The difference between seat valve and ball valve


1. Different structures


The sealing element of the seat valve is fixed on the valve seat, and the valve core contacts the sealing surface to form a seal when closed. The sealing element of a ball valve is the sealing ring on the ball, and the valve core contacts the sealing ring when closed, thereby achieving sealing.


2. Different applications


Seat valves are mainly used in situations where the flow rate is relatively small and precise adjustment is required, such as gas, air conditioning, car styling, etc. Ball valves are mainly used in situations with high flow rates that require quick on-off, such as water supply, oil, natural gas, chemical engineering, etc.


3. Different operating methods


The operation mode of the seat valve is generally manual or electric, which can achieve relatively accurate control. The operation method of ball valves is generally manual or pneumatic, which requires a large amount of operating force, but the operation is relatively simple.


4. Different installation methods


Seat valves are generally installed in the horizontal or vertical direction of the pipeline. Ball valves can be flexibly installed in different directions, as well as in horizontal, vertical, or inclined directions.


3、 Advantages and disadvantages of seat valves and ball valves


The advantages of a seat valve are good sealing, high accuracy, and stable operation. The disadvantage is that there are certain restrictions on flow rate and valve size. The advantages of ball valves are simple operation, strong flow capacity, and suitability for large-diameter fluid pipelines. The disadvantage is poor sealing, requiring a large amount of operating force.

Seat valves are suitable for situations that require precise adjustment and control, while ball valves are suitable for situations with relatively high flow rates that require quick on-off.
