What malfunctions may occur with butterfly valves?
2023-07-21 13:27:14

1. Sealing leakage

(1) The butterfly plate and sealing ring are sandwiched with debris.

Remove impurities and clean the valve chamber.

(2) The closing position of the butterfly plate and sealing ring does not match correctly.

Adjust the adjustment screws of actuators such as turbines or electric actuators to achieve the correct valve closing position.

(3) The outlet is equipped with flange bolts that are unevenly stressed or not tightly pressed.

 Check the mounting flange plane and bolt tightening force, which should be evenly pressed.

(4) The pressure test direction did not meet the requirements.

Apply pressure in the direction of the arrow seal.

2. Leakage on both ends of the valve

(1). The sealing gaskets on both sides have failed.

Replace the sealing gasket;

(2). The pressure on the pipe flange is uneven and not tightened.

Tighten the flange bolts (evenly apply force);

(3). The gasket of the upper and lower sealing rings is invalid.

Remove the pressure plate ring of the valve and replace the failed gasket of the sealing ring.

3. Leakage at the filler

(1). The filler is overdue and has aged.

The aged or damaged filler should be replaced in a timely manner, placed in circles, and the joint should be at a 30-45 degree angle;

(2).Excessive force during operation.

It should be operated evenly under normal force, and no casing or other methods should be used to extend the force arm;

(3).The packing sleeve bolts were not tightened.

Evenly tighten the bolts used to press the packing.

4. Damage to handle and hand wheel

(1) Incorrect use.

Prohibit the use of pipe wrenches, long levers, impact tools, etc;

(2) Loose fasteners for repair at any time;

(3) The connection between the handle, hand wheel, and valve stem is damaged.

Repair at any time.

5. Turbine, worm drive jamming

(1) Unclean embedded dirt, affecting lubrication.

Remove dirt, maintain cleanliness, and regularly refuel;

(2) Poor operation.

If the operation cannot be continued when Discover Card is found and the resistance is great, stop immediately and conduct thorough inspection.

6. Electric installation failure

(1) Poor lubrication, foreign objects stuck in the valve, causing excessive torque damage.

 Just refuel to ensure that the oil pipe is in good condition, the seasoning pressure should be moderate, and foreign objects inside the valve should be removed in a timely manner to maintain cleanliness;

(2) Motor malfunction.

 The working time of the motor should not exceed 15 minutes, and the power supply should be normal to avoid moisture on the motor
